D.W. Ditty: Press

From Tune Up Magazine
A Publication of the Philadelphia Folksong Society

Meanwhile, back in the kitchen, roots loving acoustic blues man, D.W.Ditty serves up a feast of oldies, oldiers and oldiests with taste and zest.("WHO IS D.W.DITTY?") I am never quite sure where to lay that line that separates blues from rag from jazz. Genres are like clouds with wisps where there ought to be borders. Mr. Ditty (That's what he calls himself and who am I to pry into a man's questionable decisions?) has neither need nor desire to categorize his style. He is skilled, he is entertaining, he is delightful and that is plenty good enough for me. I really like his cover of Mississippi John Hurt's "I'm Satisfied (and Tickled, Too)" and I admit that I identified with Sheb Wooley's "I Just Don't Look Good Naked Anymore". You can hear selections and order from D.W.'s website www.dwditty.com

I've reviewed the disc and am still smiling as I think of some of the lyrics in your songs. I have put it into rotation on our blues shows at WCNI. Thank you.

Wanna know WHO is DW Ditty?

He's infectious! He's smooth strummin', with a gravely, smoky-jest-right voice, and arrangements woven together so well they are seamless. And, I can't get enough of his new CD!

I find myself singing at odd moments I'm satisfied (and tickled, too) and then on to a snippet of one of the other songs. My test of a CD is if it is good, I will remember a tune or two.

If it is REALLY good I will remember most of the tunes and some of the words.

If it is SUPER I will get all of the tunes down AND actually get enough of the words, from a few *listens*, to sing along.

That last is what I've been doing with DW's CD and I do not say that lightly.
